Essential Tips to Care for Your Pearly Whites
Your teeth are more than
just part of your digestive system; they can be your asset in so many
ways. If you want to ensure that you don't develop multiple dental
problems, you should practice proper oral hygiene at all times. Doing
so can keep mouth bacteria from developing and damaging your teeth.
Brush and Floss
Brushing alone will not
completely remove all the plaque and bacteria from your teeth, but
flossing could. It removes food particles stuck between your teeth so
that it doesn't cause acid build-up that leads to plaque and tooth
decay. Make sure you use a good toothbrush, too.
Choose a Dentist
Have a regular dentist
who will regularly check on your oral health. It's important that you
visit him at least once a year for oral prophylaxis or teeth cleaning
to get rid of plaque. He will also monitor any tooth decay and gum
disease that may be starting to build up. If you have good teeth but
is concerned about aesthetics, he may recommend teeth whitening and
teeth alignment.
Eat healthy food
No one can argue with the
fact that eating right is directly related to a healthy body; and
this includes your teeth and gums. Avoid sweet and starchy foods that
only feed on plaque and produce acid that can wreak havoc on your
teeth in as fast as 20 minutes. Instead, eat calcium-rich food like
milk, cheese, and yogurt. Fibrous fruits like celery and pear are
also best.
