Helping Seniors Restore Their Teeth with Implants
One
of the unavoidable consequences of becoming a senior is to lose teeth
gradually, which primarily affects digestion. As a result, the
overall health of an elderly degenerates, and they’ll have to
restore their lost teeth to regain their health. Fortunately, there’s
an efficient solution to this problem: dentures.
There
are two types of dentures—removable and permanent. While removable
dentures offer an immediate solution to tooth loss, it does pose
several issues. Besides the need to be regularly removed and cleaned,
dentures have a tendency to pop out and that can lead to embarrassing
situations. These issues can be fixed by permanent dental implants.
Dental
implants are artificial tooth roots that are surgically placed
directly into the jaw. Made of titanium, they are intended to meld
with the jaw bone to ensure stability. Once fully integrated into the
bone, a replacement tooth is then placed over the titanium root and
either held in place by a screw or dental cement.
The
great thing about dental implants is that they look like real teeth.
Indeed, no one will notice that you’re walking around with dental
implants. They don’t slip or cause discomfort while eating, giving
you a chance to enjoy all your favorite foods again. They also last a
lot longer than the average dentures, so you can be assured years of
smiling with your perfect set of teeth.
